WHAT TO EXPECT - Tauck Tour

Breakfast

- On our way to Bratislava, Slovakia .We have a three hour bus ride.

Lunch
- Before lunch we have a walking tour of the Old Town Hall and St. Martin's Cathedral,

The Old Town Hall with its originally the site of a towering house arose in the 15th century by connecting several burgher houses and then went through several reconstructions in the centuries. After the earthquake of 1599, it was reconstructed in Renaissance style, while the town-hall tower was rebuilt in baroque style in the 18th century. In 1912 the rear wing was constructed in neo-renaissance style from the side of the courtyard, and neo-gothic style from the side of the Primatial square.

 Old Town Hall

The cathedral is famous mostly as the coronation place of the Kingdom of Hungary between 1563 and 1830. It held 19 coronations and Queen Maria Theresa was one of the crowned people. The small gate to the Crypt with the catacombs takes this staircase. The underground contains several crypts (only two are open to visitors) has the remains of archbishops, cardinals, and heritable families’ members.

WHAT WE DID

We really didn't get to see much in Bratislava. We didn't get near or into the churches or over to the Castle. I guess the only purpose for this stop was to each lunch.

After lunch we had about an hour of free time. Abbie and I followed the John Tour with Debbie. He has a remarkable capability to find his way and not get lost. He headed us back toward the other side of town and toward the Bratislava Castle.

There was a lot of tourist recommendations to visit the Castle but neither Tauck nor John got us near to it.

However, we were there during the historical reenactment of the Bratislava battleHeidi got some great pictures

.

and I got the following video.
